The national Alpaca Owners and Breeders Association (AOBA) has designated
September 27 & 28 2008 as National Alpaca Farm Days.
We'll be open Saturday and Sunday for this annual fall party!
Come say hello! Our animals are well trained and friendly.

ALPACAS 101 SEMINAR - Join us for a
fun, educational alpaca 1/2 day seminar to learn all the basics of
the alpaca lifestyle.
You will enjoy a good overview of what it means to raise alpacas
and the business side as well. At the end of this 1/2 day seminar
you will be better informed as to what the alpaca lifestyle is all
about.
ALPACAS 101 is held on the last Saturday of the month, starting
a 8:30am with Tea, coffee and treats in the kitchen. We start in the
barn at 9am.
The seminar fee is $10 per person which can be paid on arrival (cash,
check, credit cards accepted).
Come dressed to get just a little dirty as you learn the basics
of alpaca handling and care, breeding industry, clothing industry
and much more in a fun, relaxed Q&A environment.
Topics include:
- A Day in the Life of an Alpaca Rancher
- Understanding Alpaca Temperament - fear, food and trust
- Ancient and recent alpaca history
- Recent and current alpaca market trends
- Taxes, financials, investing and alpacas as a business
- Understanding factors to price an alpaca
- Breeding, showing and promoting your alpacas
- Health issues and healthy management
- Hands on interaction with alpacas
- ..your special questions
The ALPACAS 101 seminar runs until lunch. We often go to town to
eat lunch ("Dutch") and chat more about anything you like..
We always have fun. We hope you will too as you learn a lot in
a short time about the alpaca lifestyle!

PRIVATE &
GROUP RANCH TOURS - Held regularly by appointment at 1st Choice
Alpacas.
We give private ranch tours to individuals and groups
interested in alpacas. You'll see a well managed alpaca ranch, lovable animals
and elegant products crafted from their wonderful fiber. Small private tours
are free to alpaca intested individuals.
Group educational packages are also available for a small fee($3-5/person)
to offset costs of items given to participants. We have conducted two hour educational
seminars to:
- Seniors
- Physically or Mentally Disabled
- Foreign tour groups
- Class room field trips
- Home Schoolers groups
- Boy and Girl Scouts
